FAQ

  • How much food should I bring?
    • Servings are very small - 1 bite's worth.  You should at least bring enough for the judges (5-7 servings) and any amount beyond that is gravy.  The audience votes for the grand prize winner, so the more people get to taste your food, the more likely they vote for you.
  • When should I arrive?
    • Please come by 11:00am so we can register your dish before the event starts.  We will be giving out time slots for presentations when you register.
  • Can I heat my food at the event?
    • Yes but please to not make/create/cook your food at the venue because space is limited.  Please read about the facility below for details on what is available at the venue.
  • Do I need to bring plates/cups?
    • No.  We provide plates/cups/cutlery to the guests.  Please bring whatever you need to serve the food (spatulas, large spoons, etc)

Facility:

  • The venue has a full kitchen with stovetops & ovens.  There is a refrigerator & freezer although bringing your own cooler is a good idea.   There is no microwave.

  • Please bring food prepared.  There is kitchen space available for heating and final touches but it may get crowded and you'd rather mingle with other bacon lovers than slave away in the kitchen, right?

  • Bring a hot plate or sterno heater things if you need it.  Tape your name (& pref your email) address on everything you bring that you want returned.  We want to help return anything that gets left at the event, but please be responsible for your own things.

  • serving - please bring the appropriate serving items needed for your dish.  We provide plates, fork, knives and cups.  Don't forget your serving spoons, spatula, towels, pot holders, etc.

  • Please limit the disposable items you bring (plastic cutlery, paper plates, etc).  We want to limit the amount of trash we produce.

  • Expect that your dish might not get served at the temperature you'd want it to.  This is potluck-esque, so things will get cold.

Presentation

  • everyone should be prepared to do a 1-2 minute presentation.  Say your name, dish name, inspiration, etc.

  • those with demos/talks please limit your presentation to 10 minutes

  • food bringers will be brought out in groups of 5 every 15-20 minutes.  Your food is served at the time of your presentation

  • there will be speakers, microphones & a projector.  If you want to have slides, bring your computer and we will hook you up

  • if you want to bring food without being entered for prizes, bring and serve whenever

  • how it works:

    • 10 minutes before your presentation slot begins, come up to the presentation area.

    • Assistants will place you accordingly.  There are 5 presenters per group.

    • When the first person begins talking, all the dishes from the group are brought out for consumption.

    • Each of the 5 presenters speak in turn

    • The whole group leaves together

    • The next group preps for presos

    • For example:  If you are one of the 5 people listed under 2:20, you will be ready to present at 2:10.
